  1. As a former governor at Varndean School I saw the wonderful work that Andy did at first hand. He is an inspirational leader and I find it hard to understand how supposedly intelligent people on the governing body at the Wellington Academy have reacted in such a knee jerk fashion. Their mentality seems to me to me more at home in the looking glass world of Premier League football than the real world if educating young people.

Education is not the same as running a business that is focused on short term profit. It is about building firm foundations based on values of community and aspiring to more that the purely material rewards that so much attention is focused on today.
Instant success is rarely sustainable, long term success is hard won and takes time.

  2. Good luck in your next adventure. Our children would not be where they are today without your mentoring and guidance so thank you for all you’ve done. You’ve masterminded the creation of such a marvellous place for learning to suit both those who can get great grades and those who never will but can excel in other areas sadly overlooked by the grade chasers.

This will undoubtedly be the second knee jerk decision the out of touch city types regret but I’m sure the parents and youngsters you lead next will like ours benefit hugely from your special approach.
